It's Today It's Today

Hello to a brand new day!!! A day to start anew and brush off yesterday. Today you are a brand new person. With hope and dreams. A long time ago I read a Mountianwings that talked about today. It was about a simple boy who was excited about today. Nothing that we would call special was on his mind other than 'It's today' it seemed he had woke up with a new idea. Sometimes we take for grant today like we are due today and treat it like every other day. But it is not so, it is a day full of blessings and dreams. It is different from yesterday because we have a whole 24 hours to make today special, We can do this in simple ways. Call a loved one tell them you love them listen to what their story of the day is. If you have children make them laugh or let them make you laugh. Take the time to watch their sport game or scouts meeting. If you have older parents ask them to tell you what it was like when they were young. Curl up with your spouse just hold each other no words need pass. If you have a dog take it for a game of toss or tug-a-war play with your dog see how much fun you can have. If you have a cat brush it see how much they enjoy your touch. If you are a lone reach out to someone anyone and tell them hi how are you or write a letter. 'It's Today It's Today make it your own and make it special. Everyday is a new chance to start again , you are not the person you were when you went to bed yesterday you always makes a change but Today you can make dreams come true and love a bit stronger. We all can learn from that phrase, it gives us hope, blessings, peace, love and a whole new experience to enjoy.
I would love to hear what your Today is what did you do to make it your own special day.

The Meaning of Peace
=====================

There was once a king who offered a prize to the artist who
could paint the best picture of peace. Many artists tried.
The king looked at all the pictures, but there were only two
that he really liked, and he had to choose between them.

One picture was of a calm lake. The lake was a perfect mirror
for the peaceful towering mountains all around it. Overhead was
a blue sky with fluffy white clouds. All who saw this picture
thought that it was a perfect picture of peace.

The second picture had mountains, too. But these were rugged
and bare. Above was an angry sky from which rain fell, and in
which lightening played. Down the side of the mountain tumbled
a foaming waterfall. This did not look peaceful at all.

But when the king looked, he saw behind the waterfall a tiny
bush growing in a crack in the rock. In the bush a mother bird
had built her nest.... a perfect picture of peace.

Which of the pictures won the prize?

The king chose the second picture.

Do you know why?

"Because," explained the king, "peace does not mean to be in a
place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work.
Peace means to be in the midst of all those things and still be
calm in your heart. That is the real meaning of peace."

That is the REAL meaning of peace.

Last night I watched a movie called Field of Dreams. It was about a man who heard a voice telling him to build a baseball field in the middle of his corn field in Iowa. So he uses his life savings and builds it. Then ghosts of famous players come to play on his field. Next he is told to find a very famous writer. So this man starts a path of events that lead him back home. He is about to loose his farm and is pressured to sell. However while he was gone more ghosts came to his field. Now this field and it's players were not seen by everyone. If a person had a closed mind they could not see the players and sometime the field. He finds clues and voices that lead him to other players or people that have long passed. Finely he comes home to a whole field of players. One player is of very importance it is his father. Now his father was old when he was born and his mother died a short time after he was born so he never knew her. But his father tried to get him interested in playing ball. The boy hated it he did not want to play for any reason, When the boy became 17 he said hurtful things to his father and left. He never got the chance to apologize and introduce him to his family . Now the boy is a man with a field full of ghosts and he finely meets the younger version of his father. He can put things right and found peace. It took him on a long walk to get to this point and when he was ready his father came to him. So for him he finely felt peace .
What I am telling you is that it may take a long walk and keeping your mind wide open to find your peace. It can be as small as a plant growing in hard weather, or a loved one who is passed coming to visit you in dreams or any other way Remember to keep your mind wide open allow yourself to see your peace.
One last example of peace.

Last December I was very sick, I was on life support and was not doing very well. While I was on the life support my father came to me. I never got the chance to tell him thank you and how much I loved him for trying his best. This is one of my regrets. But he came and I felt a peace like no other. It was strange for me to have my dad come to me I would have thought it would be my grammy. He gave me the will to survive and get better. When I was off the machine and in my room one night I watched a show that I thought my father made (what was really on the tv I will never know) He put nature scenes to Neil Diamond music it was so peaceful and strong I have this memory today and it is just as powerful. It gave me peace and helped me grow stronger so I could leave. It was amazing and peaceful.
I am hopeing and praying all can feel peace on some level. One thing I try to do is live my life with little regreat this is hard but leave your mind wide open and accept the power of forgiveness and peace. Tell your story it may free you I really hope to hear of others who are walking the long walk of peace and forgiveness, it may help others and make you stronger.

Peace

What is peace? Is it saving the world or stopping a war?? No it starts with you. To be at peace is a very hard thing to do. Yesterday I talked of forgiveness, the next step is peace. Peace is also a very powerful tool. With this world today to take time to find your peace can be crazy. But I encourage you to forgive then notice the feeling you have when you do. Sometimes it is just a hint of peace or a full blown case of peace. I hope for you that you might feel the way you breathe pay attention to it take the time to notice how you are breathing fast, slow, scary, hard to breathe, or loose and free. How to tell how you are breathing, If it is fast you may feel light headed out of breathe and anxious. If it is scary you might feel the same as fast breathing, with more intense feeling. Slow- you may feel the breathe leaving your body and replenishing your body. you are more relaxed. Hard to breathe you may have a feeling of drowning, panic and out of control kinda like a asthma attack,( at this point you are pushing yourself to far back off ease your breathing you are not ready for this step) If you feel loose and free like bonds holding you down are gone. With each breathe you feel more at ease and peace is coming in.
Like forgiveness try to find peace in small things. What makes you free? Art? Gardening? Arts and crafts? Volunteering? Prayer? Walking in Nature? anything that makes you feel free and at peace will be a good grounding tool.
Peace for me can be hard I have to have a grounding tool a place I am safe and can work on my breathing and how I am feeling. My greatest tool is walking in nature or working on a garden. Sometimes writing here is a good tool too. I do not speak of what I do not know. I have spent many years working on these things and if I can pass them on to someone who may gain from it the better.
Here is a poem I strongly believe in may give you a starting point.

Desiderata
A Poem of Peace – Truth –Spirit – Life

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there maybe in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons
Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare your self with others, you may become vain and bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of times. Exercise cautions in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about life; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars: you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you , no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore, be at peace with Yahwey, and whatever your labours and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams
it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Good Mourning

I hope and pray all is well, Today I would like to talk of healing and the first steps. This is not easy and can become a long walk. I feel forgiveness is a strong tool to start healing. I do not mean to forgive those who have done you wrong, but forgiving yourself of the choices you may or may not have made.

For example:

I was married to a very abusive person who hurt both my baby (at the time) and myself. I was married a short time and was able to get out thanks to my parents. He did horrible things like strip me naked and throw me in to a old boiler room with out lights and a lot of rats. While I was still pregnant with my son. Sometimes it was hours or days with out food or water. There are many more things he had done but that is neither here nor there. What I had to do once we were safe was work on forgiveness. My pain was deep I still have very hard time at night or sometimes during the day something will set off a flash back and I get worried. BUT I have found through the years something that pulls me through, FORGIVENESS I am not sure I can forget the things he has done to us but I can forgive myself for my feelings and my part in what happened. I want to teach that no matter what another person has done you may never forget (that is a good thing so it does not happen again) but forgive who you were and your feelings of regret and pain. It is easier to forgive another person but your self it is much harder. It is something I work on everyday. In my own way I pray, I pray for the strength to heal and forgive. I have many scars that tell me where I have been and a reminder what I have gone through. However I am very safe now and can start healing and work on my own path of forgiveness. I work on the small things everyday like memories or seeing a scar and thinking about forgiving. So far I have been healing a little at a time and today I am proud to say I have healed and forgave many things, it has made me a better Mother, Wife Sister, Aunt and Daughter. Forgiveness is a very powerful tool.
Start with something small think it over and find the way you can forgive. Everyone has a way to forgive, it is when you are ready and can put it behind you. Like I said you do not have to forget just forgive. Once you learn this step you are ready for the next. (in a later blog) I can only guide you I can not make you or force you this is something you need to do and I can offer support and guidance.

Your Spirit during this time is fragile so take care of it nurse it encourage healing and protect it do not forgive something you are not ready for this can cause more pain. Start with little things and work up like I said this can be a long walk but if you do it right it is the best walk you have yet to take

I am looking forward to meeting new people

A little about me. I am 36 years old in a very happy marriage. I have one son who is 15. I have a dog named Ferdy and a cat named Eeyore. I live in Portland Oregon and I am opening my own business. I grow and produce my own healing herbs. I sell Watkins products as they are natural and a earth friendly product. I promote personal well being and healing. I am deaf so I see things a bit differently. I am also a Celtic Christian who believes in the magik of nature.

I would like people from all walks of life to join me here. I like learning of others and how they see the world. I also want to help those who seek peace, love, and well being.

All are welcome here I feel very strongly that no one is judged for any reason.

Love and Care May peace find you, love keep you and nature surround you
